LeBron James does powder toss, gets booed

LeBron James is officially back in Cleveland. His name has been called, he has jogged through the tunnel of Quicken Loans Arena and the reception he received was, well, expected.

Boo. Lots and lots of boo. Then a little chant that can't be spelled out but starts with "A" and ends with "hole." Then some more booing.

LeBron warmed up with a buzz in the arena that really can't be described by anything other than an NBA Finals game. And I don't even know if that aptly describes it. He never let his eyes wander as he went through the pregame layup line. He dunked the ball, threw alley-oops to himself and shot fadeaways, all while holding the same little smirk on his face.

The of course the introductions where LeBron was booed some more. (Interesting that he was announced first. Maybe they wanted to catch the crowd off-guard.) It should be noted too, that Zydrunas Ilgauskas was loudly cheered upon having his name called.

The question was, would he stick to his pregame routine entirely though? Would he toss the powder? Well, he did.

LeBron calmly walked to the scorer's table, dumped the chalk on his hands and tossed it high into the air. The Cavs fans sitting behind the scorer's table turned their backs (which included Drew Carey!) as the powder dissolved in the air.

LeBron then hugged his old teammates and then, the game was on. But pregame was really an event in itself and something I'm sure LeBron is happy to finally have behind him. Then it was about basketball. But that was just for him. Because it was about so much more for the fans in Cleveland.

Check out Ben Golliver's take on LeBron's intro plus individual videos featuring the pregame activities: LeBron running out on to the floor and LeBron tossing the powder

Poly, You also make two errors. Z, Mo, and Shaq did not do their jobs because if they would have, Cleveland would have won a championship. It is a TEAM sport and Lebron James can only do so much. Shaq slowed down the Cavs in 2009 IMO. Also I am 98% positive i have seen Lebron do the powder toss before in recent games. I dont think he did it to be a jerk to cleveland fans. Once again this sport is a buisness and you gotta do what you feel is right for your future.

PSU, I understand where you are coming from. But you make two errors.
They did put talent around him. They moved players every winter. They didn't get a big name because of the salary cap, but he had a good supporting cast with three All-Stars in 2009. Z, Mo and Shaq. Yeah, they aren't household names, but hey they did their job.
Secondly, yeah, we could get over it. If he stopped doing stuff like this. He didn't do the powder toss all season, and then he does it in Cleveland. Doesn't that seem a little bit of a jerk move. I mean the comments he made over the off-season were also in the same vein. We understand that you are sick of Clevelanders acting as victims, but this is basically the biggest loss a team has had in a decade. Let us lick our wounds.
Anyways, we could have gone the other way and just stopped caring about sports. But we didn't, because, we're Clevelanders, and we'll get over it. Give us time, and this will fade like the others. Will we still boo LeBron. Yep. Like we still hate He Who Shall Not Be Named for the Move. But maybe if the rest of the country would stop forcing us to reexamine our relationship with him and the Decision, we'll suck it up. He was one of our own, but we'll get back up.
We are Cleveland

LeBron James does powder toss, gets booed

Tobybo- You Obviously must not follow basketball because I think LeBron James had one of the best supporting casts in the NBA. The problem with average NBA fans is they look for big names and big names only. Look at how that SUPERSTAR chemistry is working out against .500 teams. The Celtics absolutely have their number because they utilize their talented bench. Doc Rivers monitors Allen, Pierce and Garnetts minutes which Leaves the Bench to get the job done. Its not all about the flash its how you play as a team. All For One and One For all, I like how they did that. And don't get me wrong Im not Cavs fan but...

Man give the guy a break. I do not agree at all with the way he made his decision. But the leauge is a buisness and the sooner you people figure this out the better. I am so sick and tired of people saying he betrayed cleveland. He did not owe anything to cleveland,  and gave 7 years of exciting basketball. Cavs manager and owners could not put the talent around him. I am a Cavs fan, and I am over it. Its a damn basketball player, GET OVER IT.
