6-8? wow and i was being optimistic with 5... with out an o line Weedon is about useless, plus we really reached for him...we need line men alot more then we need wide outs especially with the lead footed old man at QB.
I like the Weeden pick guys, would have liked to get him in the 2nd, but there have already been so many surprizes, can't wait. He starts over McCoy, he can play, Need a WR and a RT and then depth. Nice job so far.
rumours are still flying around about the shoulder that McCoy hurt in the national championship game two years ago is still giving him fits . maybe thats why his balls flutter ..i mean the balls he throws
Okay, I understand that the Browns traded up to #3 because Tampa Bay was trying to work a deal with the Vikings to steal Richardson. I applaud the Browns for trading up to get the man that most all of us agree was the best pick in Richardson. Plus, we didn't have to give up our 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round picks. Giving up Atlants's 4th, and our 5th & 6th was worth not being left high and dry and missing on Richardson. Especially since we have some extra picks in this year's draft.
But then with our 2nd 1st round pick: Now that's another story. You don't use the 22nd pick in the draft on a rookie QB who will turn 29 years of age in October. THAT IS A REACH. OT Riley Reiff, G David DeCastro, T Jonathan Martin, G Gordy Glenn were still on the board at the time, they are more worthy of being a first round pick, and NONE OF THEM WILL BE 29 IN OCTOBER. I am really pi$$ed off about this pick.
In round #2 I sure hope WR Rueben Randle, or even Stephen Hill are still available. Then maybe, just maybe we can still pick up a good Offensive Tackle in round #3. If we can do that, then maybe I will feel a little bit better about the Weeden pick.
I noticed the Steelers jumped on David DeCastro. That's what the Browns should have done. Actually I preferred Tackle Riley Reiff. Taking a QB in round #1, plus the fact we lost a 4th & a 5th in the earlier trade is going to make it harder to fill our many needs. Which is why the Browns should have been a little bit more active in free agency. We also still need another linebacker, a cornerback, another WR,
Don't get me wrong, I believe Weeden is talented and I believe he is better than Tannehill, but the age thing is what I really have a problem with. He probably won't beat out McCoy, but the Browns will feel pressured to start him at some time during the season before he eligible for social security. In the NFL that is usually around age 32. Well, maybe a little older for a QB.
im actually most excited by the Weeden pick. the guy beat Luck, RG3, Tannehill, Foles, and Landry last season. Carried Ok State to their first BCS game and won it. Almost went undefeated(one loss in OT) a former pitcher, good arm, a total gamer
prediction: there will be a run on OL in the 2nd round. Browns will need to take one @37 to be sure to get talent. WR will have to wait til 3rd round.
I can empathize pretty easily. What are you saying? I know it sucks being a Browns fan, and watching picks like Weeden at 22, I feel like sadly your woes will continue. I feel for you. Could be worse I guess. You could be Seahawks or Chiefs fans. ;)
