Atlanta Hawks Venting Room!

If i could keep only one, it would be horfold, but i hope they keep j-smooth. But i think they will trade j-smooth this season. If they do they should trade him for kaman, which i've said before.  Kaman and horfold down low would be a very good tandem.

I see the Bobcats and Warriors are loking to trade their draft picks, with the warriors wanting a sf or pf in return. I hope the Hawks keep smooth, but if the atlanta brass do trade him, then the warriors could be a trade partner.  We get the 8 pick and Dorell Wright for smooth, Or we dance with the bobcats. We get the number 2 pick for smooth, maybe they even throw in thomas tyrus or biyombo bismack.  I think those teams would do it because they want proven players.

Guro, I live in Charlotte and the Bobcats are interested in someone taking Tyrus Thomas contract and possibly getting rid of DJ Augustine since him & Kemba are pretty much the same player.  The questions is would Augustine or Thomas be an upgrade? Not sure Augustine is better than Teague, maybe. Thomas would be a big body in the front court but he does not play hard at all.  The guys has all the potential in the world.  Assuming we trade with Warriors Wright gives us a legit 3pt threat and the number 8 pick, they would probably have to throw in Biedrins to make the money work(which I like Beidrins). I would do that and take the best available player. Doron Lamb, Damina Lillard, John Henson, Tyler Zeller, Austin Rivers....man lots of options.

I use to live in charlotte, liked it. My first nba game i attended was the charlotte Hornets

I tell you who i like a lot, the kid from illinois, meyers leonard. he will be a top tier center soon in the league, great fit for the Hawks. True 7 footer move horfold to the 4, now we're cooking with gas. The Raptors also might be looking to trade their pick. I think it's the 6th pick.

I saw where New Orleans would trade the 10th pick for someone willing to take Oakafors contract, which menas we would probably have to give up pick #23 BUT if we could senf them Marvin Williams  in the process. Oak is solid he is a 13-14 point a night kind of guy and 10 boards The 10th pick select a legitimate SG or PG..I like it.  The kid Tony Wroten Jr out of Washington, check out a youtube video amazing court vision & penetration ability.....not sure he would be there @ 23. I like Doron Lamb from UConn 6-7 with  a 7 foot wingspan, can shoot, smooth.  How many wish we could have Jordan Crawford back now instead of Kirk Hurtrich...????

Sorry, but if the Hawks took Wroten JR at #10, if we were to trade for that pick, I would automatically quit watching the Hawks. Not only is Wroten JR projected to go in the latter half of the second round, but players like Austin Rivers (Doc Rivers son and a kid who grew up in the Highlight Factory watching his dad and 'Nique play together), Perry Jones III, Harrison Barnes, Doron Lamb (who you mentioned), Meyers Leonard, Terrence Ross, and Terrence Jones would be available.

Also, to get the 10 pick I don't think we would have to get rid of the #23 pick. I think a package of J-Smoove, Marvin, and a future 1st would do it. With such a loaded draft class we should do everything in our power to move up in the draft while still holding on to the #23 pick. If we can hold that pick and be sure of drafting a legitamite C at 23 (Leonard, Ezili, Melo, Moultrie, Nicholson) then we can focus on BPA with whatever higher pick we get out of a Josh Smith / Marvin Williams / Joe Johnson / Zaza Pachulia trade would yield. I'm open to trading ANYONE not named Teague or Horford to get a higher pick in this years draft, thats how loaded it is.

Lastly, another 2 sleeper players I wouldn't mind the Hawks looking at - Royce White, with his anxiety question marks could drop to us. He is a lethal scorer and a guy with a high motor. Also, Jeffery Taylor out of Vandy is an intriguing prospect. Could be the SF we have been looking for. He is a long defender and shoots the ball well on spot up situations (especially from deep). Either of thse guys would be a good choice at #23 in my eyes if we end up staying with that pick only in the draft (although I'm partial to drafting a legit 6' 11" to 7' C for the chance that we keep Smith past the trade deadline next year and he leaves in FA).

I think ezili (another i like) will be there at 23 and also nicholson, maybe even fab, good picks at 23.  Good call on taylor, I've heard some great things about this kid.  That he is the diamond in the ruff, for this entire draft. Hopefully sund has a very good draft.

I just want a big man taken in the draft. It's hard to find legitamite big men. If you can draft one and groom him yourself I feel like that is the best case scenario. Also, with so many defensive-minded C's, they would be great complimentary fits beside Horford or Smith at the 4 (whoever is playing at the moment, or whether Josh gets traded).

Well we all know management will trade smooth, because all their money is tied up in joe and marvin. I'am just worried that they will basically give him away for nothing. They should try 2 move into the top 8 at least, get some value for smooth. It would have been nice if we could have made a trade with new orleans like the Wizards.

Wow first sign of good news Hawks rumored to be discussing GM position with Danny Ferry.....that would be good for ATL.  Dont expect a big man of any value @ 23 , I would probably burn all my Hawks gear if we drafted Fab.  @ 23 (if we dont trade up) a good combo guard like Wroten, or SF w/ length like Moe harkless, IF jared Sullinger fell I would jump on him like a fly on a turd during a July Heat wave. I think this is a deep draft and we could even find a valuable bench player like Mike Scott or Draymond green in rd 2.

Well...I here that ferry is one of the young, up and coming G.M's in the league. We get to see how sharp he is very quickly. I really hope he does better than Sund.

Ferry will definitely do better than Sund. He did well in Cleveland and San Antonio. I know I'm new here and just dreaming, but this is the Venting Room!!! But listen to these trades:  What if Ginobli wants to start...Trade J Johnson for Manu!!! Then trade Josh Smith and Marvin Williams to NJ for a draft pick, Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace. The Nets will definitely do it to entice Dwight Howard to come this year or defintely next year. Think of our lineup... PG Jeff Teague SG Manu SF Gerald Wallace PF Horford C B. Lopez. Bench players PG Pargo SG (draft or bring back Crawford or even JR Smith) SG McGrady PF Ivan the terrible C Za Za.
Wow!!!! What do you guys think??? I'm just a high school basketball coach but I could even coach this lineup...

Hey Danny, do this and hire me as an assistant!!!!!!

I would rather the Hawks pursue a trade with Minnesota and bring beasley & Randolph here we can send Marvin & Josh Smith, & pick up a futire 1st rd from Minnesota. Randolph can play when given the chance,
draft a guy like wroten or quincy miller @ 23. Sign some FA....

It's interesting, falcon912fan, I've always said that the fans seem to know more about basketball than actual G.Ms, sometimes. And we would do it for half there pay.

Yeah streetcar94, i hate to see talent like randolph wasting on the beach.  We have been wishing for randolph for what, a year  or two now.

Scrap this team and build around Teague and Horford. Pick and roll! Joe needs to just shoot jumpers and Josh needs to drive the basketball.

J.J Hickson  is now an unrestricted FA, he would be a great addition to our depleted front court, go add someone like Beasley or Randolph.......Ferry get on the phone!!! Time is ticking.

I know! Randolph would be a very good fit for this team,so would hickson, good replacements for smooth if he leaves. But right now i have very little faith in ferry. It seems this organization makes every decision, seem like pulling teeth.

The Hawks are on the brink of pulling off a trade to unload JJ's massive contract bad thing is we are going to take a bunch of expiring contracts of marginal players, I'm told the deal hinges on wether or not Nets give up MarShon Brooks....hopefully Ferry sticks to his guns.  I cant say Im real excited about Jordan Farmar, Antony Morrow, & Johan Petro, & Gerlad Green... The Nets have some good players unfortunately this is not any of them.
