I was going to tune into some NHL Playoffs last night, but to be honest don't have a real rooting interest in any of the series so I instead chose to chat with some of the fine members of this thread while watching some scoring in the Meuse CBS League.  I have accepted Dave's avi bet (winner chooses loser's avi for one week), but thanks to a second blown save this week (now one each for Brandon League and Javy Guerra), I trail by 47 points instead of under 30 and barring an implosion by at least one of Dave's SPs will likely be dealt my first loss of the season.  The only good news is that I have a final opportunity on Sunday when my Ryan Dempster is matched up against Dave's Johnny Cueto...could easily be a 20 point swing in that game alone.

I continue to search for viable long-term options at SP seeing as how right now other than Cliff Lee and Ricky Romero, I'm not sure who on my roster I am comfortable having be a starter week in and week out...mostly still playing the matchups.  If Jake Peavy and Brandon Beachy can give me a consistent 20 points every week, I can afford to be patient with Josh Johnson but with two starts next week, his head is firmly on the chopping block.

I'm glad I didn't stay up to see it...now I have to see if he rebounds in his next appearance like Javy Guerra did.  Even the great ones blow a save now and then, but they almost always respond favorably the next time out.  And just because you and Dave were having verbal filatio with each other in the chat room doesn't mean you need to bring it here.

In these free CBS leagues, the roster sizes are so small that it's impossible to hoard all of the available talent...in the draft I try to get elite hitting and a few elite SPs and then backfill my last two SPs and both RPs.  Josh Johnson (my #2 SP) has disappointed so far, but the season is still early so I'm hopeful he can turn it around...hence the reason I traded for Ricky Romero.  This strategy has enabled me to win 3 straight GB10 Championships so it can't be too shabby.

Maybe the timing of Dwight Howard's back surgery is on the up and up.  Maybe it has nothing to do with Howard's problems with Stan VanGundy, but I have to believe the vast majority of people are very skeptical.
